Policies
What if I need my completion certificate rushed?
If you need your completion certificate same day, the fee is $100. If you need your completion certificate within 2-5 days if your final drive appointment, the fee is $50.
What is your refund policy?
Once payment is received, you may cancel within 10 days to receive a full refund. Canceling between 11 and 20 days will result in a $50.00 fee deduction from refund. Canceling after 30 days a $75.00 fee deduction from refund.
Do you charge a cancellation fee?
Parent/Student must call at least 24 hours prior to a scheduled drive to cancel the drive. Failure to do so will result in a $50 dollar fee, which must be paid prior to the next in-car driving session.
Driver Ed Class
Can my student attend any class location?
Yes. Any student can attend any class location, provided they have transportation for them to arrive and leave the class as scheduled.
Which is better - online classroom training or in-person classroom training?
Online classroom training is great for independent, self-motivated students who have high speed internet available at home. Online classroom training allows a student to complete classroom training in a minimum of 12 days. Please allow at least 2 weeks after completing the online training course to receive your Online Certficate of Completion in the mail before scheduling behind-the-wheel appointments.
In-person classroom training is great for students who learn better in a hand's-on and interactive environment. In-person classroom training allows a student to complete classroom training in a minimum of 6 days. The classroom training report is available upon completing the final exam on Day 6 of classroom training. After passing the final exam, behind-the-wheel appointments may be scheduled.
What happens after I complete the online program?
After completing all 24 hours of online classroom training, you will receive a confirmation email stating completion date. The online training company will mail you an online completion certificate. After you receive the Online Completion Certificate, make a copy for yourself and email a copy to info@teamdrivingschools.com or MAIL THE ORIGINAL TO TEAM DRIVING SCHOOL (P.O. BOX 283, Hillsboro, OH 45133). After Team Driving School receive's the Online Completion Certificate, you may schedule your in-car driver's training.
How long does it take to complete the online classroom training?
The state of Ohio requires that a student complete 24 hours of classroom training. The student is only permitted 2 hours of online training per calendar day. This means that if a student attends classroom training on consecutive days, the earliest they could complete the training would be 12 calendar days from the start date.
What happens if I miss a class?
Any missed class time MUST be made-up at the discretion of Team Driving School. The state of Ohio requires that all students attend and complete 24 hours worth of driver's training. Example: If a Day 3 class is missed, another Day 3 classroom date will be scheduled for the student to attend at a later classroom session.
Do I need a permit to start classes?
No. A permit is not required to attend classroom training. A valid permit is required to attend behind-the-wheel instruction appointments.
When can I start driver's eduction?
The state of Ohio requires a student to be 15 years and 5 months old to start attending driver's education. A student may register for a class before this age as long as they will be at least 15 years and 5 months on the first day of class.
Are your instructors licensed?
All Team Driving School instructors must:
- Complete 32 hours of in-class observation time and 16 hours of behind-the-wheel observation time
- Complete an instructor course and test
- Pass a physical, FBI and BCI background checks
- Have a valid driver's license with no more than five points
- Have a high school diploma or GED equivalent
- Have no felonies from the past 10 years or misdemeanors from the past five years
- Get clearance from the BMV to instruct drives
Driver License Road Test
What do I need to schedule my driver's test?
In order to schedule your driving exam, you must have completed 24 hours of classroom training, 8 hours of behind-the-wheel training, and have your Certificate of Completion in-hand.
Team Driving School will email the Completion Certificate within 14 days after the final in-car training appointment is complete. Please check your junk or spam email folder. Team Driving School is not responsible for delays incurred by the email service.
Any certificate requested in less than 14 days after the last in-car appointment will incur a $50.00 rush fee.
Any certificate requested for the same day as the request will incur a $100.00 rush fee.
Behind-the-Wheel
What happens after I complete 8 hours of behind-the-wheel training?
Team Driving School reserves 14 days to complete and mail a Certificate of Completion to the student/parent after the final in-car training appointment is complete. Any certificate requested in less than 14 days after the last in-car appointment will incur a $25 rush fee. Any certificate delivery (outside of regular mail delivery) will incur a $25 delivery fee.
Does classroom have to be completed to start behind-the-wheel training?
Team Driving School requires that a student complete ALL 24 hours of classroom training before attending behind-the-wheel appointments. If the student completed online classroom training, the ORIGINAL ON-LINE CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION MUST be submitted to Team Driving School prior to the 8 hours of in-car instruction.
How long can I drive with an instructor?
Ohio requires 8 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction, with a maximum of 3 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction per 24 hour period. We generally schedule (2) 3 hour driving instruction appointments and (1) 2 hour driving instruction appointment per student.
Do I need a temporary permit to schedule my in-car appointments?
All students must have a valid temporary permit at the time of in-car appointments.
Can I use my own car for behind-the-wheel instruction?
No. Team Driving School vehicles are specially modified with a passenger safety braking system so that the driving instructor may stop the vehicle at any time.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule my driving lesson?
Parent/Student must call 937-366-9240 at least 24 hours prior to a scheduled drive to cancel the drive. Failure to do so will result in a $50 dollar fee, which must be paid prior to the next in-car driving session.
Who will be present during behind-the-wheel instruction?
During most behind-the-wheel instruction appointments, only the student and main instructor are present in the vehicle. Occasionally, a driving manager or instructor trainee may be present to observe the instruction. Family or friends of the student are not permitted in the vehicle during driving instruction unless special arrangements have been made.
Do you offer home pick-up and drop-off?
Our listed/quoted prices are for pick-up and drop-off at our public locations. Home pick-up and drop-off can be arranged by calling 937-366-9240. Home pick-up and drop-off will incur a surcharge of $50 per driving appointment. ****Home pick-up and drop-off appointments usually require a longer waiting time for appointment availability.
When can I start the behind-the-wheel training?
Behind-the-wheel training may take place after 24 hours of classroom training has been completed (either online or in-person) with confirmation by classroom report or online completion certificate; payment is made in full; student has completed 20 hours of driving practice with a parent or guardian; and student has submitted all required application paperwork including a signed Ohio Behind-the-Wheel Agreement.
